Poster Presentations

I think the poster presentations were interesting. What I liked most about it was that if forced me to look up more information about something that I was interested in. It was good to see different technologies, after the presentations I went home and downloaded one that I saw.

Overwhelming Applications

I totally agree with this article. I feel that all the applications for iphone/ipod touch are overwhelming. And most of them useless. I feel this article is best illustrated by my 13 year old brother with an ipod touch. He has like 5 apps that make different farting noises. This bothers me, because in my search for app I have to filter through stuff like this. There has to be a point when the game the more the better has to stop and start looking at the quality of the apps.

Learing While You Sleep

This is what I like to hear, that you can remember things while they play when you sleep. Well, the article talks about how if you play certain sounds while sleeping you will remember what you had studied earlier. For me , someone that has a bad memory I think this would be very helpful.

MORE APPLE STORES!!!!

This is the best news that I've heard. More Apple stores is something that I like to hear. Bloomington has an Apple store and I think that it's not fair that we don't have one. Its nice know that an Apple store, if my computer breaks, that I don't have to drive to Indy or Chicago to get it fixed.

Verizon Droid

This is a article about the Apple and the Verizon Droid. This is far less exciting then the Iphone. I think that it is just sad attempt to compete with the iphone. This new phone will have google abilities which is kind of neat but still it is not iphone. I think that it is crazy how many apps have be sold and how many are available on the iphone. I wonder if anything like that will happen with this new phone and if so what how they will compare to the iphone.

Google and Image Searching

This article talked about how you can search "ice cube" and you could get a ice cube picture or a picture of the rapper. I think this related back to digital literacy and how well you are at searching something. I believe this could be a good or bad thing. A good one because a general overall image search might be someone that you wanted. I like to climb so if I wanted to see what the some climbing looked like I could search it and get a general idea about what type of faces they had. But a bad if you wanted to know something specific and you were cluttered with lots of other images. You would have to filter through much more and would be more time consuming. I think this is where digital literacy come in with having the ability to look for sometime and specifically get it.

The really mini computer

Once again, I was reading about apple and the iphone and I come to find out that adobe now is on the iphone. I cannot believe how much the iphone/ipod can do. I'm turning 22 on the 14th and it makes me feel old thinking about all the techonolgy that has come along since I can remember. I remember getting my first cell phone when I was 16. Now, my brother, 13, has one and has had it for quite a long time. I think that its crazy how much one little thing can do. I thought that my ipod was awesome becuase I could play games on mine...let alone read adobe things on my mp3 player.

Iphone

As a verizon and apple user, I am constantly upset by the fact that only At&T users can only use the iphone. This is something that I have come to accept but still hope and wait until they open the iphone up to all phone companies. I read this article that made me think about this even more. This article points out how many more people would use the iphone if they would just open it up. I feel this is a pretty basic idea but still leaves me wondering why Apple did that. The article says that Verizon has more customers that At&T so I do not understand why we do not have the iphone. In the end, I wait past date for rumors that this will be the month that Apple will unlock the Iphone and open it up to me. So far, I have been dissapointed

Google Wave

I read this article about the google wave and it sounds really interesting. From what I understand is that it puts a bunch of apps together, like chat, email and blogging. I think that sending pictures would be an aspect of wave that I would use alot. I'm not sure if wave is only limited to google user names which would be a downfall to the whole thing. You can link other wave accounts together which I think is a cool aspect and instantly up date everything, which is nice. The article says that it could be the next facebook or twitter. Right now only specific people are invited to give wave a test run but I'm excited to try it out

Nielsen and Facebook

I read an article called "Facebook, Nielsen Partner to Measure Marketing Effectiveness". It was pretty short but talk about how Facebook and Nielsen are coming together to allow for polls on the facebook homepage. This made me think more about how so many people are keeping tract of the what we do on the Internet and our everyday lives, most of the time without even us knowing. This makes me think about how Nielsen is going to use the access that it had with people accounts. If they will be able to look into people accounts and see what people are talking about and doing. This applies to how we present ourselves online and if Nielsen will be able to use information that they get. It says that facebook allows Secret Deodorant on homepages and their sales increase and allow them to hit their target audience. I don't think I like this idea now that I started to think about it and people trying to adversited to me without me noticing it.
